About getPDF
getPDF is a free PDF editor and toolbox that runs entirely in your browser. 37 tools are live today, and every one of them works on your device: the file never leaves it. No account, no task limits, no watermark, no ads.
Who makes this
getPDF is made by the small independent team behind getSVG (image to vector), getPNG (background remover and image tools) and getReport (free website checkup). All 4 sites keep the same promise: a real tool, free, with nothing uploaded. Guides on this site are signed "the getPDF team" and this page is the byline.
How tools are tested
Every tool ships with golden-file tests: real PDFs (scanned, encrypted, forms, broken, 500 pages, rotated) go in, and the output is checked for page count, text content, size and validity. Saved files must pass an independent checker (qpdf) and open correctly in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and Edge. Edited text must stay selectable and searchable. When a guide quotes a number (a file size, a limit, a result), it comes from running the tool on a test file, not from imagination.
Honest output, by rule
When a result is approximate, the page says so before you click: PDF to Word gives you editable flowing text, not a pixel-perfect copy; OCR reports its confidence; compression tells you what it re-encoded. A tool that cannot help says so and points at what will.
Why it is free
The engine runs in your browser, so our costs are a domain and static hosting: close to nothing. Donations on Ko-fi cover that, any amount, always optional. Nothing is withheld, nagged for or unlocked by paying, and there are no plans to change that.
Nothing is uploaded, and you can check
Every tool runs as WebAssembly on your device. Use a tool once, turn Wi-Fi off, and the tools keep working. The privacy page explains the architecture in plain words, including the one anonymous counter the site keeps.
