How PDF to JPG works here

  1. Drop the file. The PDF opens in a worker in your tab. Password-protected files open when you type the password.
  2. Pick the pages and the resolution. All pages or a range like 2, 5-7. 150 dpi for a screen, 300 for print. The quality setting trades size for detail.
  3. Download. Pages are drawn one at a time so a long document needs little memory. One page downloads as a file; several arrive as a zip, or as separate files if you prefer.

What it does

  • Draws text, vector art, images, annotations and filled form fields as a viewer would.
  • Lets you choose the resolution and the JPEG quality.
  • Handles 500 page files page by page.

What it does not do

  • It does not extract the images embedded in a PDF at their native size; that is Extract images from PDF.
  • It does not make a transparent background; JPEG has none. Use PDF to PNG for that.
  • It cannot open a file whose password you do not have.

Questions

Which resolution should I pick?

150 dpi for a screen or an email, 300 dpi for print, 600 for a poster or a detail. 72 is the page's own size in points.

Why is the text in the image fuzzy?

JPEG blurs sharp edges at lower quality. Raise the quality, or use PDF to PNG for text-heavy pages.

How big are the images?

An A4 page at 150 dpi is 1240 by 1754 pixels; at 300 dpi, twice that in each direction.

Does my file leave my computer?

No. Everything runs in your browser tab. The only network requests are the site's own files.
